==Background==

On February 18, 2015, it was announced that Girls' Generation was preparing for their comeback in Japan by releasing their ninth Japanese single named "Catch Me If You Can", which was scheduled to be released on April 22, 2015 in Japan.〔(【引用サイトリンク】 title=Girls' Generation preparing to drop their first Japanese single as 8 members, 'Catch Me If You Can' )〕 It had been a year and 7 months (19 months) since the group's last Japanese single, "Galaxy Supernova", was released in September 2013.
After over a month's waiting, on March 23, further information was announced regarding the new single. It was said that the new song would be sold in three editions—in addition to the Regular/First Press Limited Edition and the Limited Press Special Package, which would both be released on April 22 in Japan, a 12-inch analog record would also be distributed exclusively through Universal Music Store on May 27.
On April 1, S.M. Entertainment revealed that a Korean version of the new single "Catch Me If You Can" would also be released digitally along with the Japanese version on a number of online distributors on April 10. Its music videos, in Korean and in Japanese respectively, will be revealed on the same day, while the physical CD will start selling in Japan on April 22.〔(【引用サイトリンク】 title=Girls' Generation's New Single "Catch Me If You Can" Revealing Simultaneously in Korean and in Japanese on 10th )〕〔(【引用サイトリンク】 title=Girls' Generation to drop 'Catch Me If You Can' MV in both Korea and Japan simultaneously! )
